I'm a successful commercial realtor in Chicago who was looking for a second home in New Orleans. I knew the real estate business well but had no feeling for the Crescent City market. Visiting the city without a car, I asked the first realtor I stumbled across if she'd drive me through a particular neighborhood. That's how I met Kat. She was young and attractive, so I dismissed her immediately. She couldn't possibly know anything, but at least she had a car. I was soon to learn what an idiot I was. En route, I found a half dozen houses I liked, asked her to stop and write down the addresses, and contact the owners to see if they'd be willing to sell. With the homes not being for sale and the number so small, I knew it was a million-to-one shot--basically impossible. I returned to Chicago and forgot about Kat. A month later the phone rang. Kat was thrilled to tell me that the owner of my favorite of the six houses called to say his father had died, and his mother wanted to sell the historic structure. He'd just stopped there to pick up the mail, found letters from three realtors, and called her first because of the professionalism of her letter. Kat set up a meeting the following day between me and the owner. I returned the next day and we struck a deal. However, there were a couple of problems...ownership had to be transferred to the mom which I was warned could take months, and, there was a vagrant living in the house who had to be removed. The seller wouldn't officially sign until both obstacles were removed. I worried for months that my dream house would disappear. It was then that Kat's value and professionalism became evident. She kept both the seller and me calm over months of court continuances to oust the "tenant" and settle the estate. She stayed on top of every detail, contacting both attorneys, and preparing everything that could be prepared prior to final court rulings. She answered her phone every time this nervous client called her, even at 6AM, having obviously been awakened by my call. She was friendly, optimistic, and encouraging at all times--especially when I needed encouragement. Closing was the smoothest I'd ever seen, every detail having been attended to in advance. Kat took us all to lunch afterwards. By the end of the process, my girlfriend/co-buyer and I looked at Kat as not only the best residential realtor we'd ever worked with, but also as a great friend. We worked with her again on a subsequent project. I'd recommend her to anyone in the greater New Orleans market. She's a pro.

We have been working with Kat for almost a year now. We live in Lafayette so usually the only time we can make it to New Orleans to look at properties is on weekends.
